Biographie

Né en 1980 à Kanagawa, Japon
Vit et travaille à Osaka, Japon

Kazuma Koike a passé son enfance à Buenos Aires, en Argentine et a également fréquenté un lycée à Barcelone, en Espagne. Il est diplômé du département de sculpture du College of Art de l’université de Nihon.
Koike crée des sculptures en céramique, des dessins et des peintures, aux motifs de dieux anciens, de pots, de grands félins, de plantes et d’ananas. Empruntant le thème “Artéfacts anciens fictifs”, ses œuvres qui mélangent alors des images de différents lieux et périodes engendrent une sensation de flottement unique, comme si elles n’appartenaient à nulle part. Koike dit s’intéresser à “l’état dans lequel différents éléments coexistent en harmonie” ou à “la transformation qui change le but et le sens des choses”.
Ses expositions personnelles récentes ont eu lieu chez cadet capela (Paris), Omuro Museum (Mie), AishoNanzuka (Hong Kong) et Tezukayama Gallery (Osaka).
