cadet capela is pleased to present ”I Will Will A Will By My Will”, a solo exhibition by the Italian artist Corinna Gosmaro at 54 rue Chapon, 75003 Paris.

The title of the exhibition plays on the various meanings of the word “will”, demonstrating ambiguity and flexibility in language. The exhibition features a collection of artworks depicting climbing ropes shifting into animal bronzes, landscapes packed into luggage, gazes capable of brushing, and intimate scenes such as a pair of flamingos in love. Through these diverse representations, Gosmaro challenges traditional narratives and perceptions.

In her artistic exploration, Corinna Gosmaro challenges human exceptionalism by delving into the fundamental aspects of human perception and cognition. She investigates the implications of post-nature as a contemporary creative framework and examines the cognitive phenomenon of Mental Time Travel (MTT), or Chronesthesia. Through her work, she questions whether this ability can be harnessed as a tool for a new form of responsibility.

I am against human exceptionalism, and because of this, I am very fascinated by the enduring and universal characteristics of human perception and beliefs that paradoxically drive us to feel quite the opposite. I find it quite funny how limitations in our comprehension arise from the challenge of overcoming our ingrained cognitive frameworks. These mental paradigms frequently shape our perceptions in ways that often do not accurately reflect reality, and yet we feel so exceptional and limitless.

Going back and forth on the border between painting and sculpture, the work of Corinna Gosmaro draws this journey throughout the history of our culture. The possibility of engaging different patterns elucidating the distinction between the work and its display represents another step further in Gosmaro’s practice.
